Our Toilet Rolls are PFAS Free!

Here at PandaHQ we love toilet roll, we eat sleep and breathe toilet roll but did you know that some brands of toilet roll contain potentially harmful chemicals? They are called PFAS or per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (phew that’s a mouthful), and are man-made chemicals that have been linked to several different health issues.

In the UK a recent article regarding the presence of PFAS in toilet roll has raised concerns (source: https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2023/mar/13/toxic-forever-chemicals-pfas-toilet-paper) with several major brands of toilet roll containing PFAS (we won’t name names but think big supermarket brands…). So how are these pesky PFAS getting into toilet roll? PFAS are often used in the manufacturing process to make toilet roll more durable, the problem is, when this paper is flushed, these harmful chemicals can enter our water supply harming both the environment and aquatic life and THAT is something we do not stand for here at PandaHQ.

We always knew our trusty toilet roll was PFAS free, but we didn’t want you to just have to take our word for it. We did the tests to prove it! We shipped off our beloved standard and unbleached rolls to undergo third party accredited testing for presence of PFAS and we are pleased to let you know that no chemicals were detected, meaning we can shout from the rooftop that we are PFAS free!
