Supply Chain

See how we get our products from raw bamboo, then to you.

1. BAMBOO BEGINNINGS

Things the UK is famous for: fish & chips, rain, bad teeth. Things it isn’t famous for: bamboo… one of the many reasons why we source our super sustainable shoots from FSC certified forests in China, where there’s a surplus of this incredible plant.

2. HAPPY HARVESTING

A different variety from the bamboo pandas eat, harvested just once a year and with a growth rate 30 times faster than trees, we cut our bamboo above the root to avoid the release of any sequestered carbon. We’re basically just giving it a haircut…

3. FOREST TO FACTORY

Embarking on a little road trip, the harvested bamboo travels to our factory (as a passenger, not the driver!), where its Cheeky transformation from plant to product takes place.

4. PLANT TO PRODUCT

We create wood chips from the bamboo, soaking them until they turn to pulp. This is made into reels which are like massive toilet rolls - useful if you’re Bigfoot. The reels are then cut to size for human use and water is recycled throughout, converting steam into electricity

5. SETTING SAIL

The perfect pirate’s booty that’s perfect for cleaning booties, a treasure trove of Panda products are transported to the Shanghai port where they’re loaded onto a freight vessel for a 45 day cruise to the UK - minus the happy-hour cocktails.

6. CARBON COMMITMENT

Life is all about balance (except when it comes to biscuits), and this whole process is Carbon Balanced through donations to The World Land Trust to protect and rebuild Vietnam’s Khe Nuoc Trong rainforest, offsetting 8.6 tonnes of carbon per 10 tonnes of product produced.

CARBON COMMITMENT

Ocean shipping per ton is only 3.5 grams per mile due to the energy efficiency, economies of scale, and use of relatively low-carbon-intense fuels in large cargo ships.

Road haulage is 166 grams per ton-mile due to the higher fuel consumption and emissions associated with trucks and other road vehicles compared to ocean freight ships.

We pledge to continuously track and record our carbon footprint through third party verification. We are working towards meaningful carbon reduction targets through innovation and accountability.

We hope to change our industry for the better and encourage others to join us on this journey towards a most sustainable and carbon conscious world.
