World Without Nature

March 3rd is World Wildlife Day.

On this day, we usually celebrate the rich diversity of life that exists on our planet. From the morning birdsong, to the daffodils that show us Spring is on the way, our plants and animals are what make this world special.

Sadly, our diversity is being lost at an alarming rate - according to WWF, the population sizes of mammals, birds, fish, amphibians and reptiles have seen an alarming average drop of 69% since 1970 - sad and scary news. 

Our nature is declining for a number of reasons, from agricultural expansion, to deforestation, a lot of what we do impacts our plants and animals, but could you really imagine a world without nature?! No majestic elephants walking over the plains of the Savanna, no bright and beautiful coral reefs in the Gold Coast of Australia, no cunning and clever tigers prowling around India - it doesn't bear thinking about, however sadly, this is becoming our reality. 

This is why we partnered with WWF - to support their global conservation work and to create a lasting sustainable impact. For every promotional pack we sell, we make a direct donation to a number of different WWF projects around the world. From Giant Panda protection (of course) to Seagrass conservation in the UK. Deforestation is known as one of the biggest contributors to our declining nature, and the more we cut down for products like toilet paper, the more nature we are set to lose. Here are just a couple of reasons why deforestation is a disaster for our natural world: 

Loss of Biodiversity: Forests are home to a HUGE array of plant and animal species, many of which are found nowhere else on Earth. Deforestation destroys habitats and disrupts ecosystems, leading to the loss of many plants and animals.

Climate Change: Deforestation is a major contributor to climate change. Trees act as carbon sinks, this means they suck carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and storing it in their trunks and roots! When forests are cut down, this stored carbon is released back into the atmosphere, contributing to global warming. A warming planet is putting a lot of stress on our animals, many simply cannot survive in a warming world. 

So let's not make a world without nature our reality - we stand with WWF to highlight just how important nature is in our every day life. Lets all work together to protect our planet, and the species within it.
